2. An Impromptu #1 Contender’s Battle Royal?

Since Triple H took over WWE, the company has made numerous improvements in how they book their shows. There’s more logic and long-term planning to stories, characters are better fleshed out, and the shows just have a better rhythm to them.

But one trope they haven’t been able to ditch is the impromptu match. WWE can’t resist the temptation to run out an authority figure to make a match while two wrestlers are arguing. However, Raw went a couple of steps further on Monday night.

While Liv Morgan argued in the ring with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, Raw GM Adam Pearce raced out to stop things from escalating, then berated Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for their attack on Rhea Ripley. He said Liv still needed a challenger for her Women’s World Championship and announced a battle royal to determine that contender, which would start immediately. Cue the parade of the Raw women’s roster.

There are impromptu matches between people arguing, and then there are impromptu matches involving an entire locker room to earn a title shot.

This is just how WWE books, and they likely will never change, but that doesn’t mean it’s not foolish and shouldn't be called out. Is it a mortal sin? No, but the biggest wrestling company in the world shouldn’t get a pass either.
