1. A Snoozer Of A Battle Royal

Perhaps the Royal Rumble has just spoiled fans, but an old-fashioned battle royal can be a pretty mundane experience if not booked correctly.

Monday’s battle royal to crown a Women’s World Championship number one contender was 95% forgettable drivel and 5% chin-rubbing intrigue. One of the easiest ways to identify whether a battle royal is drab is to ask who stood out or had a dominant performance. The answer from Monday’s bout? No one! No one really went on a tear, eliminating several superstars or tossing women around.

In fact, there were a couple stretches where Wrestler A would toss Wrestler B, only for Wrestler C to quickly eliminate Wrestler A. No one gains momentum in that scenario. The tag champs, despite being portrayed as the dominant, imposing figures that they are, were invisible in this match until the closing moments when the script called for it.

The one big positive from this match was the result: Iyo Sky should pose a serious challenge for Liv Morgan, and she could even pull off a shock win if WWE wanted to switch up the title, even temporarily. Iyo has been a bright spot in the women’s division in recent months, so giving her this spot feels earned.
