7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE Raw (4 November - Results & Review)
3. New Day Continue To Fall Apart
For the past few months, the New Day has been slowly drifting apart, with Xavier Woods growing increasingly frustrated and agitated, while Kofi Kingston repeatedly tries to keep the peace and mend any tears in their relationship.
On Raw, however, the duo looked like they finally started down the “irreconcilable differences” path. In a backstage interview, Woods called out Kingston for losing their tag title number one contender’s match last week – despite it being Xavier who lost focus and cost them the match. Rather than let that go, Kofi called it out, noting (like any normal person would) that there’s video of what actually happened.
Not to be outdone, during their match with the War Raiders later on Monday night, Woods again made some bad decisions, going for a blind tag when Kingston had the match in hand. That confusion led to Xavier taking the pinfall. Woods will almost certainly try to gaslight Kofi and blame the former world champion for the loss, which will only heighten tensions.
The New Day is rapidly closing in on their 10th anniversary (28 November), so one has to imagine that the peak (or at least a major turning point) in the story will come in the next three weeks. Woods is becoming increasingly unstable, and Kofi is becoming more exasperated. Watch this space.
