7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 7)

4. Bayley’s Beatdown

There's something about wrestlers torturing ears that just works. Randy Orton came across as a sick, twisted bastard when he ripped at Jeff Hardy's lobes back at Hell In A Cell 2018, and the same thing was true of Bayley here on this week's SmackDown.

Bringing back brutal Bayley was the right call.

Her feud with Bianca Belair over the SmackDown Women's Title badly needed some of that viciousness. Now, if only WWE could cut out the senseless hyena laughing she does, they'd really get something going with this rivalry. Basically, fans demand chair-swinging bad ass Bayley, not some light-hearted joke TV host.

WrestleMania Backlash is unlikely to be a one and done scenario for these women, so they've got time to build up that sicker side of Bayley's personality. Then, if WWE want to make Belair seem tough, they can book a stipulation rematch at Extreme Rules.
