7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 7)
3. Teddy Long Makes The Match
Holla', holla' and indeed...holla'.
Teddy Long's cameo could've been a waste of everybody's time. Thankfully, the Hall Of Famer's quick promo actually had a purpose. He walked out to announce that Cesaro would get a shot at Roman Reigns' Universal Title if he could beat Seth Rollins. Then, Teddy warned Rollins that he'd "go one on one" with The Undertaker if he lost.
OK, that didn't happen, but still. WWE did manage to feed Long's appearance into the background story between Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce by revealing that Sonya was the one who put Teddy up to the WrestleMania Backlash announcement. That was a neat touch that validated his appearance.
Teddy's work alongside Sami Zayn was a banter-filled affair too. He finally mentioned 'Taker, then forgot that Baron Corbin is 'King' Corbin and not 'King' Booker. Long delivered big time with everything the company asked him to do on Friday night, which makes this fan happy.
