7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 4)
4. Hearing Heyman Hustle For Someone Else
Fans have heard identikit promos from Paul Heyman for over eight years now. In fact, scratch that - he did mix things up a little between 2012-2014. Then, Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak and happy Heyman reminded everyone constantly.
That's his right, but it got a little old.
Seeing him stand there and spout new lines as a stoic Roman Reigns stared a hole through the viewer at home was refreshing. Simply having a different client alongside Heyman revitalised his own presentation, and that's not something that should be taken for granted. This reminded one of Paul's work with CM Punk (in a good way).
He feels fresh again, and like he finally has some crisp material. Bonus points go to WWE for keeping Reigns' lines short as well. The new champ didn't need to go out there and cut a 20-minute Triple H promo from 2002.
