7 Ups & 3 Downs For AEW Collision (Oct 21 - Results & Review)
Downs...
3. Even Shorter Shrift Than Usual
Upon watching Skye Blue dominate HollyHood Hallie in barely two minutes, there was high hope that this short bout meant that this week's Collision would finally see a second women's match take place; something which has never happened in Collision's short lifespan.
After all, AEW surely wouldn't give its female talent just two minutes of in-ring time during a two-hour broadcast, right? Uhu...
Usually, Collision will get a Down for its ridiculous formula of one solitary nine-minute women's match which spends three of those minutes stuck in a picture-in-picture commercial break. While it's frustrating to see the ladies of AEW only afforded six minutes of actual TV time to do their business between the ropes, this week was just something else entirely.
Yes, giving Skye Blue a dominant, short win was a smart move to help further the new edge Blue has taken on in recent weeks. But really, you couldn't find time for another women's match at some point later in the show?
This is no knock on Skye and HollyHood, as the two did about as well as possible with the time they were given, but how Tony Khan uses - or doesn't use - his company's female talent is simply unfathomable at times. Two minutes of in-ring work on a two-hour show? Tony really is taking the piss by this point.
