7 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage: New Year's Smash (Dec 30)

2. An Unnecessary Add-On

Kip Sabian
AEW

Kip Sabian was a blessing on that otherwise-fine opener (more on that later), but he definitely need to be squashing Atiba moments after cutting in on the commentary booth. Does anyone really see Kip as the kind of worker who needs squashes to get over? Seriously?!

He's more of a sneering, cowardly type, so AEW should stick to his strengths. This was very-much a nothing match, especially considering Sabian did all of his hype for the upcoming showdown vs. Orange Cassidy during that All-Atlantic bout earlier.

Talk about filler.

That guest comms spot and this match might've worked as separate line items on different shows, but they didn't work when bunched together like this. It was all a bit cluttered - beating some enhancement talent does bugger all to bolster Kip's title challenge anyway.
