7 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Revolution 2024 (Results & Review)

Downs...

3. The Same Problem Persists

7 Ups and 3 Downs might not capture that, last night, AEW promoted one of the all-time great wrestling shows. They did.

It was still a shade too long.

The roster is so stacked and talented that, when two genius workers are encouraged to tell the best story of which they're capable, it's difficult to follow. Eddie Kingston Vs. Bryan Danielson was incredible; a Match of the Year several years ago, the third best match on the show in 2024 when AEW is at its very best. They worked the second match of the main card. The next two matches suffered from diminished crowd heat as a result. The same issue affected the three-way World title match. In general, too, match length continues to be an issue. As awesome as it ended up being, did BCC Vs. FTR really need 22 minutes?

The All-Star Scramble, for more than one reason, could have taken place on this week's Dynamite.

In the ultimate pedantic quibble, the excess of the AEW pay-per-view formula lowers the ceiling to a mere 9/10. Then again, the main event transcended everything and rendered that take very silly.

Some things are more important than a baggy undercard.
