7 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's NXT (23 Jan)

6. Turning Wa(l)ter In Wine

Imperium Undisputed Era
NXT

You're probably sick of hearing this by now, but there's no way on earth that the build to World's Collide should have been - by any measurable metric - good. With no TakeOver on Rumble weekend, and virtually zero interest in the NXT UK brand, the matches should have felt like an energy-sapping distraction from far more interesting angles.

Without exception*, every single match we're going to see will be a banger. The hastily cobbled reunion of DIY was bad but it'll give us a classic against Moustache Mountain, Toni Storm has cut the queue to feel like a genuine threat to Rhea Ripley's Women's Championship, Balor's going to wake the entire world up to how good Ilja Dragunov is, and Imperium vs Undisputed Era feels like a Survivor Series must-watch in all but name.

This week gave us two three matches, the Toni Storm and Io Shirai match to set up the former's Women's Championship clash, as well as the two Dusty Cup matches which helped build our excitement

*Sorry, left the asterisk in by mistake.
