7 Ups & 3 Downs From UFC 247
2. Terrific Tafa
If you still had doubts about Justin Tafa following his unsuccessful UFC debut then we'd completely understand. After all, the New Zealander entered the UFC with a tonne of hype surrounding him after smashing through three opponents on the Australian regional circuit. However, Yorgan de Castro managed to flatline him in the first round and make everyone wonder what all the fuss was about.
Well, Tafa let everyone know that the hype is most certainly real with this particularly violent win over another highly-touted prospect in Juan Adams. The 26-year old looked far more comfortable in his second Octagon appearance, waiting for the right moment to strike before cracking Adams with a shot that made him drop to a knee.
Sensing that the big man was hurt, Tafa pounced on him and landed a right hook-right uppercut salvo that finally put Adams on the Canvas. It was a fantastic showing Tafa and if he continues on this path, we could watching the birth of the next big heavyweight knockout artist.
