7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Backlash 2023 (Review)

Bad Bunny deserves a mountain of credit for his work in Saturday’s street fight against Damian Priest at Backlash.

Bunny very easily could have leaned on plunder and outside interference to limit his involvement or lessen the number of bumps he took, but in addition to all of that, he actually wrestled a really physical and convincing match. Seconds into the match, he hit a shock Michinoku Driver and we were off to the races.

Priest all but had it won with a South of Heaven, but he pulled Bunny up. Bunny made him pay shortly after with a tornado DDT and Falcon Arrow. The two fought into the crowd, where Damian hit a Broken Arrow off a stack of cases through several tables. Bunny would get the upper hand and key in on an injured leg, which gave us the rare situation of a celebrity working a body part in a garbage brawl, but again, it worked well.

And of course, we get the full array of Bad Bunny highspots, including a Sliced Bread #2 and a Canadian (Puerto Rican?) Destroyer for the win. Tremendous fun and just a great example of a celebrity coming in and just going all-in on being part of the action and not just a spectator to it all.
