6. New Day Finding Their Footing

Who would have thought that getting the New Day in the ring and beating up people and winning matches would help establish them as serious heels?

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods defeated the LWO’s Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde on Monday night in a predictable but fun tag match, with the LWO men pressing the issue to get revenge for their leader Rey Mysterio but coming up short after a quick bit of cheating from Kofi. The action was solid – as expected given the four in the ring – as the LWO kept the New Day off-balance but couldn’t close the door on the multi-time tag champs.

The longer story came more into focus when Dragon Lee ran down to make the save and turned the tide for a bit before Woods and Kingston overwhelmed Lee and dropped him. At some point in the coming weeks, Mysterio will make his return to Raw, which should set the table for WrestleMania 41.

One thing worth mentioning: Since turning heel, New Day carefully removed a lot of their crowd-pleasing offense from their repertoire, but now that they’re getting booed for everything they do, they brought the Unicorn Stampede back on Monday night, which elicited boos as they stomped down Del Toro.
