Coming off an incredible AEW Double or Nothing PPV, it can be difficult to reset your brain to WWE programming.

Whereas AEW is a wrestling-first promotion and PPVs are in-ring action on steroids, WWE Raw is normally a storyline-driven entertainment program with some wrestling sprinkled into the mix. Sometimes, that wrestling is world-class, and other times it’s merely competent and serves primarily to advance angles.

That context is important for Monday night’s episode of Raw, which had a couple of really good matches and some disappointing action, but also included some entertaining angle advancement segments that drove some of Raw’s biggest stories forward.

For fans following Jey Uso’s improbable journey as World Heavyweight Champion, they saw a moral contrast drawn between champ and challenger. Seth Rollins’ stable continued to lay more groundwork as it takes shape and develops a more specific purpose. And a midcard feud between two heavy-hitters got off the ground.

Raw’s main event scene continues to receive a lot of attention, pulling more wrestlers into its orbit, and if booked properly, it could carry the show through the summer. Confidence in WWE to pull this off is considerably lower than a year ago, but the pieces are there.

Let’s get to it…
