7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (3 Feb - Results & Review)

5. Jey From The Heart

When Jey Uso main-evented SummerSlam 2023 against Roman Reigns in Tribal Combat, that seemed to be the mountaintop for the former multi-time tag champ.

Uso struggled to break free of his typecasting as a tag guy with his twin. Even after separating from the Bloodline and joining Raw, his first burst of success came with Cody Rhodes… as a tag champion. But Jey persevered and captured the Intercontinental Championship last year and then won the Royal Rumble on Saturday.

Opening Raw on Monday night, Uso soaked in an overwhelming response from the fans that was so undeniable that it required WWE to crank his theme again for more crowd interplay. When he finally was able to speak, Jey clearly was caught up in the moment, tracing his history in this business and how he wasn’t too confident and didn’t have what it took to stand on his own… until the fans rallied behind him.

This might be the pinnacle of achievement for Jey Uso, and it’s far more than anyone could have imagined two years ago. Whether you agree with the decision at the Royal Rumble, you can’t help but feel for him in the moment, and he let those emotions bubble up nicely.
