7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (9 Dec - Results & Review)

3. Adding Layers

Seth Rollins and CM Punk have been on a collision course ever since Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023. They’ve renewed hostilities recently, but there’s still plenty of time for things to percolate.

Punk conducted a sit-down interview backstage on Raw where he declined to talk about the favor Paul Heyman owes him from Survivor Series last week, letting that mystery continue to fester for a while longer. He then turned his focus to Rollins, noting that he doesn’t hate the Visionary.

The Second City Saint does, however, seemingly hold it against a 16-year-old Rollins for having the sense of entitlement to ask Punk to train him – for free. Did you know that Punk saved Rollins from being fired from WWE years ago? That he “shielded him” from that. The Best in the World then made a point to say that Seth did a great job while he was away from WWE, but now the starter’s back, so the second string goes back on the bench.

But yeah, CM Punk doesn’t hate Rollins at all.

Great stuff here, with Punk obliviously contradicting himself and revealing exactly how much he thinks about Rollins and how much he dislikes him. This just adds more layers to the rivalry. They’re under no pressure to rush the two into the ring, so building the feud beyond raw hatred is perfectly acceptable stuff.
