7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Oct 22)

2. Shhhhhhhh-ut The Hell Up

Leva Bates Peter Avalon
Lee South/AEW

A shade better than his previous attempt on last week's Dark it may have been, but Peter Avalon's promo ahead of Leva Bates vs Nyla Rose was weak as hell.

As a 'Librarian,' Avalon's words come straight from the Beginner's Guide to Playing Heel, with the moustachioed literature enthusiast attempting to shred Philadelphia and its sports teams. That's it. Yes, he did it with a little more panache than last week's awkward effort and drew reasonable heat in the building, but anyone can spin a diatribe like this. It's tired and boring.

Avalon is a talented guy who absolutely has a role as an annoying pest of a jobber in AEW, but these promos need to get better. The delivery is fine - it's just the material.
