7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (1 June)

Ups...

7. Exactly What Wardlow Needed

Wardlow is on course to become a real star in AEW circles after kicking seven shades out of MJF on pay-per-view. Here, on the flagship, he got a routine squash match win over JD Drake, then kickstarted a new-ish storyline with ousted Jade Cargill mouthpiece 'Smart' Mark Sterling.

It should work.

Sterling served Wardlow with papers for repeatedly booting lumps out of a security firm hired in by AEW for shows. This fan got a laugh out of that, and he giggled again when Wardlow pointed at a lone goon to say: "This guy doesn't watch the product".

The whole segment, from squash to promo, was short and to the point. It moves Wardlow on from MJF and Shawn Spears, and pushes him towards potential matches with Tony Nese or another of Sterling's clients. Nobody should have a problem with that.
