7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (1 June)

1. “Bowling Shoe Ugly”

CM Punk Shocked AEW
AEW

CM Punk's face says it all.

The final portion of that opening six-man wasn't good. The Gunn Club seemed to forget some spots, and Punk's slip when trying a springboard following the hot tag sent everything south. JR even called the match "bowling shoe ugly" afterwards on commentary.

It is what it is, and no-one will remember this bout next week, but it wasn't a banner performance from anybody involved. Only FTR gets a slight pass, because they weren't actually involved in any of the botches. As for Punk? Well, this wasn't the match he wanted after winning the belt at Double Or Nothing.

It's always crap when miscommunication kills a potentially-fun scrap, isn't it? Austin and Colten Gunn, along with Max Caster, were hanging in there until Punk's slip wrecked everyone's confidence. Yeah, consider this one to forget for the new champ.
