7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Quake By The Lake (10 Aug)

1. TBS Title Fight Underwhelms

Madison Rayne Jade Cargill
AEW

Pairing Jade Cargill vs. Madison Raynes was a good idea. Rayne's primary AEW function will be to coach the women's division. Jade exudes incredible star qualities but is still putting it together between the ropes, so she stands to benefit from working with the TNA veteran, who faced Leila Grey in her first AEW match last week.

Their match was hindered by clumsy execution, though. This was often on Rayne's end. One particularly awkward moment came with an attempted flipping neckbreaker from Madison, who either mistimed or dive or had to execute it on an out-of-place Cargill. This drew the dreaded "didn't get all of it" from the commentators and was far from the only clunky exchange in a bout that ultimately underwhelmed.

It's a shame, because the layout generated doubt in the outcome and some of Rayne's counters to Jade's biggest bombs were well worked. Nonetheless, Jade won and moved on to Athena, who ran the TBS Champion off after the bell, having disguised herself as a Baddie.
