7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick's Day Slam (Mar 17)
Ups...
7. Cohesion Beats Chaos
Despite a few believability issues with regards to the time wrestlers like The Butcher spent selling for rudimentary Marko Stunt offense (this was weird, as Stunt usually does a good job of avoiding such pitfalls), Matt Hardy's hired help vs. Jurassic Express and Bear Country told its story effectively.
This was a cohesive unit vs. one that could barely hold itself together. Jurassic Express have beef with Bear Country after they eliminated Luchasaurus from the Casino Tag Team Royale at Revolution 2021, so they bickered throughout, falling as a result of their miscommunication. Hardy, Private Party, and The Butcher and The Blade, on the other hand, had no such issues, working well as a unit to stifle the babyfaces and isolate Stunt for the finish.
Private Party had Marko beaten with Gin and Juice, though Hardy had to call for the tag, hog the glory, and hit an unnecessary Twist of Fate for the win. Good heel work from the veteran.
We'll likely get Jurassic Express vs. Bear Country coming out of this, so that's another win. Here's hoping that aligning with Hardy means big things for The Butcher and The Blade too. They've been involved in too many stop-start AEW alliances so far.
