7 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (6 May)

1. Back On Form

While Trey Miguel and Rohit Raju’s Under Siege qualifier could have done without the Shera interference at ringside, their bout was still a hoot.

They leaned heavily on technical wrestling here, using the old-age test of strength early on. Once they got going properly, though, things were hot. It’s matches like this that remind you how good Rohit is at producing a certified banger. He was on a different form against Miguel, as was evidenced by his usage of manoeuvres your writer has never seen him use. That swinging DDT was sick, as were his transitions from rope-hung neckbreaker to falcon arrow to crossface.

It was Trey Miguel who advanced to Under Siege, forcing ‘The Desi Hitman’ into submission with Tyson Kidd’s Dungeon Lock after avoiding Rohit’s genuinely vicious running knee finish. His victory was, however, overlooked in favour of Jake Something who cleaned house post-match. He powerbombed Raju into an oncoming Shera.

A match deserving of the Under Siege qualifying stipulation. Rohit didn’t need to win this; he merely needed to remind us why he was X Division Champion. Fingers crossed fix their booking of him going forward.
