7 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Mar 24)

1. A Whole Mess

Sabu returning to Impact Wrestling was a bad decision in its own right, but his match with Rhino against oVe's Dave Crist and Madman Fulton was one of the worst matches your writer has ever seen from the company. Seeing as it was billed as an Old School Rules Match, you would think that meant the match actually being fought with such rules? Wrong.

First off, Sabu should just retire. It's plain and simple. He clearly can't go any more. Whenever he was involved throughout the match, it was pure sloppiness, with a dive off a chair to ringside seeing him nearly take a nasty bump had it not been for Madman Fulton. In addition, a front dropkick onto the oVe squad at ringside was essentially him taking a back bump without really connecting. Why he still wrestles is beyond this writer's mind.

Secondly, Sabu was allowed to use a steel chair, whereas Crist wasn't allowed to do so. As soon as the former World Tag Team Champion attempted to use the chair on the ECW icon, referee Mike Posey snatched it from his hands, leading to a Gore from 'The War Machine' to mercifully end the match with a slightly fast count. In fairness, Dave had shoved Posey down beforehand, but a referee still shouldn't be getting physically involved in a match unless it's building towards an angle.

The main point here? Get rid of Sabu.
