7 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Nov 12)

5. Proving Himself

The inclusion of Daga in the World Championship #1 contenders Elimination Challenge is a bit of an odd choice. He's not exactly the guy that comes to mind when you think of title contenders in Impact. However, he more than proved he's worthy of that inclusion as he defeated Jake Crist, one of the comrades to the current World Champion.

To the shock of literally no-one, the pair's match was brilliant. It had all the potential to be a show-stealer had it been given a bit more pomp and circumstance as opposed to being a random match on television, but that took nothing away from either man here. Daga flew all over the ring, as is tradition for him, while 'The Golden Draw' connected with a beautiful snap Death Valley driver later on in the bout. A double underhook piledriver from Daga would seal the deal ahead of next week's huge match.

Daga needed this win more than anything. He was initially brought in by Konnan as a replacement in LAX while Santana was on the injured shelf, and when that died down, it was uncertain what laid ahead for the newcomer. On paper, he may be a random inclusion for next week's Elimination Challenge, but when you see exactly what he's capable of in big match situations, there's no denying that Daga is a worthy pick to have in the six-man field.
