7 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Oct 13)

2. Ruining The Mystique

When it was announced that the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match would be returning at Bound For Glory, the intrigue around who would be entering the bout began. Just ten nights before the event, though, we already know half of the field. Le sigh.

A rather odd ten-person tag team match pitting Heath, Rhino, Hernandez, Cousin Jake, and Alisha Edwards against Tommy Dreamer, Brian Myers, Johnny Swinger, Cody Deaner, and Tenille Dashwood determined which squad of five would fight each other next week, the winner of that earning the coveted number twenty slot, and the loser getting number one. Overall, it was a clunky mess that did nothing to build the match.

Both of The Deaners spent the match fantasising over ECW icons Dreamer and Rhino, with 'The Innovator of Violence' also getting into a brawl with Myers, his own teammate. Apparently, their pointless beef is more important than a potential title opportunity. Additionally, Dashwood looked as if she didn't want to be there half the time, and Alisha's tedious skills in the ring were on full display here.

Heath pinned 'The Swing Man' off a Wake Up Call in a (thankfully) shortish match. It's all fun and games having these types of matches to build towards a Rumble Match, but at least make them interesting in some way. Shoving on an entry-based stipulation is nowhere enough to attract eyes to it.
