7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (2 Sept - Results & Review)

1. Blood Feud Draws Blood

A moment of silence for CM Punk’s 50-cent bracelet. May its demise serve to usher in the final chapter of a mostly tremendous feud that hit a new gear Monday night.

Like any good babyface who decisively wins a major match, Punk came out on Raw and declared he was putting Drew McIntyre in his rear-view mirror and turning his attention to World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. Punk called out the Ring General, putting him over for his win at Bash in Berlin, and then promised to take his world title.

But like any good heel who can’t accept losing a major match, McIntyre forced his way back into Punk’s life by ambushing the Second City Saint and delivering an epic beating that saw Drew swing at longtime friend Wade Barrett, who was attempting to play peacemaker. McIntyre reclaimed that accursed bracelet, but rather than it becoming a trophy once again, Drew broke it, shoved the beads into Punk’s mouth, and hit a third Claymore on his rival.

The attack continued in the back with Drew pummeling a bloody Punk on a stretcher, just feet from the ambulance. All told, this beatdown made McIntyre’s attack in Chicago look like a playground scrape by comparison. If Punk was at the end of his contract, this would have sufficed as writing him off Raw and out of WWE.

In reality, this was a tremendous piece of business to reinvigorate fans and get them to completely reinvest in the Drew/Punk feud as it likely steams toward Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood. Fantastic stuff.
