7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (23 Sept - Results & Review)

2. Short, But Still Subpar

WWE Raw Dragon Lee Carlito

The best thing that can be said about Carlito versus Dragon Lee is that it was really short, and they got the result correct.

Otherwise, the match between the two former stablemates was painful, even in a small dose. Carlito either cannot or will not bump how you’d expect, and Dragon Lee, one of the most dynamic wrestlers on the roster, was forced to ramp down his offense and rely on a Rey Mysterio save/distraction to give him the edge.

Dragon Lee has been on the main roster for nearly a year, and he appears to be stuck in amber, frozen as Rey’s underachieving protégé rather than a fast-rising superstar. There have been flashes of that promise - his mini-match with Ilja Dragunov a couple of weeks ago was a prime example - but Lee has yet to have the breakout performance or signature win.

Monday’s win was the right result, but it was forgotten seconds after the bell rang.
