7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (23 Sept - Results & Review)

1. Poor Man’s Devil’s Advocate

A generation ago, Sean O’Haire debuted a “devil’s advocate” character on SmackDown, urging people to do immoral, unsavory things, giving into temptation.

Fast-forward to 2024, and Karrion Kross is doing a Wish.com version of that long-lost gimmick, trying to whisper in different wrestlers’ ears and convince them to go down different paths. He spent months trying to break up the New Day – and while Xavier Woods is now seemingly acting out along those lines, there isn’t even a hint of reference to Kross or the Final Testament’s efforts.

Monday, Kross continued with his latest project: The Miz. Yes, Karrion is trying to get in the head of the guy who has only been relevant in recent years when he’s paired with R-Truth or when his wife is around. Kross hyped up Miz before his match against Bronson Reed (which never took place), telling him to be the Miz who doesn’t care about what others say backstage, that monsters come in all shapes and sizes (ooooh, foreshadowing!).

Not everything can be a gold star segment, but this could be excised from Raw and the show wouldn’t suffer one iota.
