7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (27 Nov - Results & Review)

2. Where’s The Piss And Vinegar?

For someone who bills himself as the most controversial superstar in professional wrestling, CM Punk sounded more like a guy ready to kiss babies and toe the company line on Raw.

Punk’s return promo steered clear of any pipebomb-esque comments, save for some veiled swipes at unnamed wrestlers who claim to be the best, because obviously, he’s the best in the world.

If fans were looking for some vitriol, or airing of grievances, or even passing references to the cloud under which he left WWE (or AEW for that matter), they had to be seriously disappointed. Punk sounded more like a happy-go-lucky babyface brimming with confidence than a grizzled vet with a chip on his shoulder. He delivered more of a rah-rah, pro-WWE promo than the guy who used to preach about shaking up the system.

Bear in mind that that very likely was the purpose of the promo – to deceive fans into believing his intentions are pure before snapping the trap on them – but if you sat through three hours of Raw waiting for a vintage Punk promo and got that promo instead, you were likely disappointed.
