7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 15)

2. McIntyre, Owens Beat Tar Out Of Each Other

As a wrestling fan, sometimes you just want to see two big, athletic hosses go at it. It ain’t ballet, but it sure can be pretty.

We certainly got that display Monday night from Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens, who had an impromptu match (groan) that quickly sidestepped any scientific wrestling or restholds to just turn into a bomb-throwing exhibition. Nearly everything was a high-impact, home run swing of a move, with Owens hitting cannonballs, frog splashes and moonsaults, and McIntyre employing clotheslines, White Noise, a Michinoku Driver and a Futureshock DDT.

And in a rare instance of the storyline dictating it, the Usos ran in for a DQ in an attempt to further injure McIntyre (who had admitted that he had a back injury). Unfortunately for them, it backfired and they got laid out.

But at least we didn’t get KO reinventing himself and then losing to the guy who’s (presumably) going to lose to Roman Reigns in three weeks.
