7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 15)

Ups…

7. Dexter Lumis, Stalker

Dexter Lumis
WWE

This could very easily be a “down” at any given point, but we’ve got to give a modicum of credit to WWE for handling the introduction of Dexter Lumis differently than usual.

During the past two weeks, Lumis has shown up unannounced at ringside sporting a black hoodie as he tries to rush the ring during an AJ Styles match (with Miz involved both times), and both times, he was hauled off by security with minimal commentary from the announcers.

Backstage both weeks, we saw scenes of chaos and disruption in the background, without it becoming an overt focus. Monday, staff put out a fire in a trash bin as Drew McIntrye walked by, and then later, Adam Pearce was seen in the background giving instructions to security as they ran off. These presumably were Dexter-adjacent scenes, which worked in how subtle they were.

At the same time, you have to wonder if this is going to actually work with Lumis, or if it will flame out quickly. But for now, it’s different and it’s interesting, so we’ll run with it.
