7 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Slammiversary 2023 (Review)

1. The Definition Of A Division

Deonna Purrazzo Trinity
IMPACT Wrestling

Trinity was always an underrated gem in WWE. Athletic, charismatic, and bodacious, her work was exciting on the down-low as she was in a division with a horde of similar talent who WWE perceived as being better investments.

In IMPACT Wrestling, Trinity is the investment.

Vs. Deonna Purrazzo, her world-class attributes were underlined. Purrazzo was the killer and Trinity was her prey. The essence in which Deonna wrestled was akin to the way she fought opponents when she first came into IMPACT, wearing them down before going for her big hitters so that when she hit them and/or applied a submission, the match was done.

But Trinity evaded a Fujiwara armbar and kicked out of a ring apron Queen's Gambit. It illustrated Deonna's vehement intention to retain the title wondrously. So much so, that when she submitted, there was a legitimate gasp.

Trinity's ascendancy to win the Knockouts World Championship was the expected result from the moment the match graphic did the rounds on social media. The expected result can often be the best result in pro wrestling, and this proves it. Trinity is a generational star in IMPACT. Never before has a talent of her star power and magnitude left their previous employer in the way that she did and come into the Anthem-helmed group as a bigger star.

How apropos, too, that her last singles championship challenge came against Charlotte Flair, as Trinity is now the Queen of the knockouts division.
