7 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Under Siege 2021

3. A Mistimed Return

A supplemental Up must be given to Rich Swann’s return to IMPACT Wrestling. His contract had him signed to IMPACT through this month and that was it, but it looks as if he’ll be sticking around a bit longer given how his return went down.

The execution and timing of his return, though? It has to be a Down.

Swann returned following W. Morrissey’s defeat of Willie Mack, saving his tag partner from a steel chair-assisted assault. Keep in mind this was his first appearance since dropping the World Championship to Kenny Omega at Rebellion, and you must seriously question this. Is Swann simply moving on without any sort of official conclusion to that story arc, one of the most crucial in IMPACT history?

It’s important to note that putting Rich into a programme with Morrissey isn’t a bad thing at all. It’ll be a terrific way to get some heat on the former Big Cass, so long as he goes over Swann in the end, but it still raises a few eyebrows. Unless Morrissey mentions that in the story, saying something along the lines of how Rich disappeared at the loss to Omega, then this is entirely odd.
