7 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (20 Nov - Results & Review)

3. Backstage Stupidity

Adam Pearce
WWE

Things were going so well Monday night, and then they had to throw out one of their favorite tropes: the backstage gathering storm promo, leading to a multi-person (or in this case, multi-team) match.

Chelsea Green and Piper Niven were with Adam Pearce when various tag teams wandered into shot to ask about getting a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match: Natalya and Tegan Nox, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell, and Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile. They all started arguing, so Pearce yelled over them that he was making a four-way match to determine the new number one contenders.

Shocking stuff. No one saw that coming.

Here’s a crazy idea: Why not just have Pearce make the announcement that all four teams have come to him asking for an opportunity, and he just made the match? Instead, fans had to suspend all disbelief that these four duos were just hanging around in the exact same area backstage looking to interrupt Pearce, Green and Niven.
