7 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (20 Nov - Results & Review)

4. Worst. Messenger. Ever.

Drew McIntyre

Michael Cole probably was trying to help sell Drew McIntyre’s heel turn during the main event of Raw Monday night, but he really just bolstered the Scottish Warrior’s case with some really shoddy commentary.

Cole threw out the “get over it” line, which Wade Barrett jumped on, pointing out that Jey Uso had never apologized to Drew. Cole continued to insist that he did, that McIntyre lied, and when he was called on it, he said Drew never gave Jey the opening to apologize.

The worst part of this exchange was Barrett very rationally observing that it was Uso’s responsibility to seek out and personally apologize to those he and the Bloodline had wronged, not for those people whose careers were derailed to give Jey a platform to make amends.

The back-and-forth made Cole look foolish trying to paint McIntyre as the one in the wrong because he didn’t go out of his way to just accept Uso’s blanket “I was wrong” as an apology and just move on.

This is just further evidence that WWE still struggles to book babyfaces properly, failing to understand rational storytelling and what is a reasonable explanation. None of this will matter in the long run, but if anyone was paying attention to Cole, they might have been left scratching their heads.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
