6. Let Johnny Wrestle

Ludwig Kaiser Johnny Gargano

Who would’ve thought that all WWE needed to do to get Johnny Gargano over was just let him wrestle a 10-minute match playing the underdog hero he’s perfected through the years?

Gargano toppled Ludwig Kaiser in a solid match between the two tag wrestlers, with each man getting their licks in. Johnny Wrestling did everything that you’d expect from his NXT days: slingshot spear, tornado flatliner, various kicks, and of course, One Final Beat. Kaiser controlled with some clotheslines, a rolling Death Valley Driver and a PK.

The match lost a few points at the end when Giovanni Vinci walked down to ringside, distracting Kaiser, who promptly got put away. It was an embarrassing ending to an otherwise great match.

Memo to WWE: Let #DIY wrestle and get themselves over with fans. They’ve done it before and can do it again. No one can expect them to succeed with three-minute specials and no character development.
