6. Bron, Ludwig Break The Formula

Bron Breakker is probably the can’t-miss prospect in WWE right now. He’s as hot as they come, and everything he does in the ring is getting a tremendous reaction.

For the longest time, he’s stuck to a simple – yet massively effective – formula: wreck dudes in as short an amount of time as possible. The rub on Breakker was that when they tried to stretch him out and make him sell in NXT, it didn’t work, and he lost a fair amount of his luster. He regained that shine in time for his call-up to the main roster, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Monday night, Ludwig Kaiser showed the new formula for a lengthy Breakker match that doesn’t betray Bron’s strengths. Kaiser took shortcuts to gain control and kept the pressure on, but Bron would often break out using sheer power moves, hoisting Ludwig off the ground and ramming him into the apron or the turnbuckles.

And once Breakker got an opening, he quickly threaded a series of impact moves, which the fans reacted to with increasing glee, popping louder each time he darted about the ring, leapt to the top rope for a Frankensteiner, or pressed Ludwig over his head.

What’s most impressive is that this was the typical WWE format for a long TV match that ends in a disappointing DQ, but it never felt like a slog or even a letdown afterward. Instead, it left fans wanting to see more, and that’s a pretty big accomplishment.
