Ups…

7. Getting Right Down To Business

This column has criticized WWE for its penchant for opening Raw each week with a 15-20-minute soliloquy or promo train, so we have to issue some praise when they mix it up too.

Raw opened with the steel cage already encircling the ring, and MVP and Omos came down so the manager could cut a relatively brief promo before Bobby Lashley came out to start the match. But Cedric Alexander jumped him in the aisle, allowing both heels to gang up on Lashley briefly, until officials could separate the men to send us into break.

So, we spent the first 12 minutes with a promo previewing the upcoming match and then a brawl that set the table for the cage match itself. Plus, we got a rundown of the card for the night, which is always appreciated.

We’ll take it.
