7 Ups & 6 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (30 March)

1. WCW: Backstage Assault

IMPACT Wrestling’s usage of Kenny Omega so far has been tremendous. They’ve limited his physical appearances inside the actual IMPACT Zone by having him appear either backstage or in his tour bus. That’s fine, but when he’s taking part in yet another standard backstage brawl alongside The Good Brothers, it doesn’t quite sit right.

After chatting to Willie Mack, Don Callis was essentially challenged to a fight by Rich Swann, with the IMPACT World Champion being, unsurprisingly, blindsided by Kenny Omega. Eddie Edwards, Doc Gallows, and Karl Anderson joined the fracas not long after, and within about fifteen seconds, the former Bullet Club members fled the scene.

Not good.

Of course, this is all building towards next Thursday’s main event, pitting Omega, Gallows, and Anderson against Swann, Mack, and Edwards. Had the match not already been announced, this would have been a perfect segment. It was, however, a let down.

Kenny and The Good Brothers shouldn’t be hightailing a backstage brawl just because the numbers game is even. It should have cut the feed to the next segment while they continued brawling, instead of making the trio look weak.
