7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (20 Feb - Results & Review)

3. Back On The Wagon

Sami Zayn Baron Corbin

After Saturday’s heartbreaking loss to Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn needed to respond in strong fashion. Lamenting his defeat and wallowing wouldn’t serve the character well.

Getting back on the horse and notching a win over a despicable heel was one way to right the ship 48 hours later. And Baron Corbin was the perfect despicable heel to eat a Helluva Kick right in his punchable (and kickable) face.

What made this work even better was that there was a reason for this from last week, when Sami “invaded” Raw for an in-ring promo and interrupted Corbin’s backstage interview. Baron was pissed last week, but he directed some ire at Cody Rhodes, who decimated him. This time, Corbin attacked Zayn on the entrance ramp leading into a commercial, which led to an impromptu match (uggh).

But seeing Sami pick up a win at least helped get the bad taste out of fans’ mouths. And there even was some logic to Zayn’s attacker, so that gives it a nudge upward as well.
