2. Edge Has Still Got It

Edge Austin Theory

Austin Theory has been correctly labeled as the young, brash wrestler who views himself as not just the future of WWE, but the now. Pit him against the aging gunslinger in Edge, and you’ve got some potential there.

Sure enough, Edge used his experience to outsmart Theory a few times, hitting a double leapfrog early on and then avoiding Austin when he tried the same thing and instead caught the United States Champion with a Russian legsweep. He tricked Theory into chasing him outside the ring and backdropped him on the floor. And Edge countered several of Austin’s signature spots along the way.

All of this was leading to Edge being on the verge of winning the US title, only for Finn Balor to run down and seek revenge for Elimination Chamber, costing the Rated-R Superstar the match. Three Coup de Graces afterward put a stamp on this one, with Finn standing tall and setting up a presumed WrestleMania blowoff match between the two.

If WWE and Edge wanted to though, they could easily segue to a run where Edge just challenges younger wrestlers to prove he still can go, and that old gunslinger gimmick could work if done properly.
