7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (20 Feb - Results & Review)
1. Mending Fences
To say that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have a long and complicated history would be an understatement of the highest order.
So it makes a ton of sense that after everything KO has been through with the Bloodline the past several months while Zayn stood idly by – or in the case of Survivor Series, was an active participant in bringing about his downfall – Owens wasn’t ready to accept Sami’s olive branch Monday night.
Zayn called out Owens and thanked him for saving him at Elimination Chamber, apologized for his transgressions, and acknowledged their challenges before suggesting that neither could take down the Bloodline alone, but maybe together they could defeat the tribe. KO however wasn’t biting and said he only saved Sami to prevent their families from watching the same thing that happened to Owens at Royal Rumble repeat itself Saturday night.
And then he suggested Sami go ask his buddy Jey for help before walking off.
This was a perfect thread of storytelling. It’s likely how any of us would react to a longtime friend who had turned their back but then needed help. We’d likely be there, but we’d also be skeptical about letting bygones be bygones. It’s a far more realistic reaction than KO just embracing Sami and everyone cheering and we move on. Let them continue to heal in real time naturally – and it’ll make their eventual reconciliation all the more impactful when it comes in the next couple of weeks.
