7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (20 Feb - Results & Review)

Ups…

7. Dogged Pursuit

Can we just throw some appreciation Cathy Kelley’s way?

The backstage interviewer is a thankless role on WWE programming, as it often simply requires a functional human being to ask a prepared question and then just hold the mic. For years, these interviewers have been the living definition of interchangeable parts, indiscernible from each other.

But Kelley has been a step above many of the others on WWE, capable of functioning as an actual person being trying to conduct an interview rather than a human mic stand. Monday, Cathy was trying to interview the Miz and Maryse and kept interrupting them every time they ignored her or tried to blow her off, with Maryse even rolling her eyes and mouthing that she was still talking to them.

It's not like we’re demanding that WWE’s backstage personalities be main characters, but at least be something a step above the scenery or furniture. Kelley has consistently done that, so she deserves some kudos here, especially after doggedly pursuing an answer from Miz when he was trying to ignore her.
