7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 6)
1. Liv Holds Her Own
Monday night was sink-or-swim time for Liv Morgan, as she got her first singles title match in the main event slot of Raw.
Fortunately, she was in there with a consummate pro in Becky Lynch, and together they had a good match that saw Morgan counter a lot of Becks’ trademark moves and pull a couple of new ones out herself. Liv came close a couple of times, even getting a submission move of her own, countering the Disarm-Her and getting a rollup on the Manhandle Slam.
But in the end, Lynch relied on what got her past Charlotte Flair last month: a rollup and a handful of the ropes. If anything, that paid its own compliment to Morgan, that the Raw Women’s Champion needed an edge to pull out a win. And coming after a perfectly competent match with a bunch of pinfall attempts made it more credible and meaningful.
Of course, if Liv disappears from TV or goes back to jobbing after this, it’ll all be moot, but for right now, this was a decent coming out party for Morgan.
