7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Oct 25)

2. Is Something Better Than Nothing?

This is a fair question to ask when it comes to Keith “Bearcat” Lee.

The uber-talented wrestler has been grossly mishandled during his main roster run, and he most recently disappeared for no explained reason, suddenly resurfacing with a new nickname and a new attitude.

And it looks like WWE is intent on pushing him as a monster, having mauled Cedric Alexander. However, Lee seemed to have been given an important direction: slow down and use only big-man moves. Bearcat moved slowly, using beals and clubbing blows to dominate Cedric before finishing him off with the Big Bang Catastrophe, the one highspot of the match.

This isn’t to say that Lee should be flipping all around the ring like crazy, but if you were looking to showcase him and wow fans, having him act like Giant Sloth Wrestler #47 was not the way to go. Taking away everything that makes him unique and a must-watch superstar isn't going to put more eyes on him -- it's going to send people to the concession stands.

This played out to silence until the finish, which shouldn’t be held against Lee. And it begs the question: Is it better for Lee to get this push, rather than no push? Time will tell.
