7 Ups & 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (10 Jan)

1. Bliss’ Return A Continuation Of The Bad

On one hand, it’s good to see WWE showing continuity in a wrestler’s persona. Too often, a superstar disappears for a few months and comes back as a new person with no explanation.

But Raw decided to bring Alexa Bliss back Monday in a vignette in a doctor’s office where she was exactly the same person, dealing with the trauma of Lilly the doll being ripped apart this summer. Bliss did weird, stupid stuff (overfilled a glass of water, smashed the pitcher, trashed the office) and yelled a lot, then chased the therapist off.

Presumably, we’re going to get more of these segments, probably to slowly reintroduce the original Bliss as she sheds this persona. While ditching the mystical, childlike character is good, showing a slow progression by bringing her back like this is going to be exceptionally painful as we have to relive the trauma.

Spare us, WWE. This wasn’t good the first time around. We’d much rather you hit a reset button quickly than drag it out.
