7 Ups & 8 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Dec 3)

3. Wrong Title

So, just two weeks ago, Rich Swann put in the performance of a lifetime in the Elimination Challenge. Now, he's back teaming with Willie Mack as they look set to challenge for the World Tag Team Championships at Hard To Kill on 12 January.

Swann was congratulated backstage by Ace Romero and Chris Sabin(!), who just casually popped up, before he and Willie were confronted by the current tag champs in The North. Ethan Page and Josh Alexander first joined the others in showing respect to the former X Division Champion for his performance, only for Rich to throw the compliments back in their face, assuming they were being sarcastic.

No doubt about it, if this is leading to Swann & Mack vs. The North at the January pay-per-view, then that will be a sensational tag team encounter. However, it doesn't make much sense as to why Swann is being thrust back into the tag team picture. He may have a World Championship match against Sami Callihan at No Surrender on Saturday evening, but that's an Impact Plus special, which aren't entirely canon.

As long as Rich Swann does eventually receive his title match on a pay-per-view further down the line with a big story going into it, then the continued hunt of the World Tag Team Championships will suffice for now.
