7 Ups & 8 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jan 21)

2. Big Lads Battle

The opening match of the show saw rivals Moose and Rhino face off in a three way match, with Taurus rounding out the field. What followed was several minutes of fluid action between three bigger lads, with all three men putting in 110%.

At first glance, Taurus may seem like a big guy, but he moves around the ring at such a speed, busting out flying arms drags and springboards crossbodies like there was no tomorrow. It added that extra bit of panache to the bout, seeing as 'Mr Impact Wrestling' and 'The War Machine' play the role of the typical big guy, in the sense that they use their power as their main weapon.

Everything about this was fantastic. Rhino and Taurus' brief alliance to wear down Moose, the former Grand Champion using every move in his arsenal in an attempt to come out on top (including the Game Breaker discus lariat, which he hasn't used in quite some time), and the ending to the match as a whole. Rhino laid out Moose with a Gore, only for Taurus to give him one of the stiffest headbutts in history to steal the win.

It was a sensational way to kick off the in-ring portion of the evening. Taurus has appeared for Impact in the past, with his most recent appearance being in October 2018, where he teamed with Aero Star and Dr Wagner Jr. in a losing effort to The Rascalz. If he's putting in showings like this, then perhaps he should become a more regular member of the roster. It's not every day you pick up a win over two of the biggest names in a major wrestling organisation.
