7 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE's Road To WrestleMania 38

1. Big E’s Misfortune

Big E Neck Injury

Man, this has been a depressing time for Big E.

Roman Reigns skipping Day 1 due to COVID concerns led to E dropping his WWE Title to Brock Lesnar in a hastily-assembled five-way match. Then, as if being ousted from the top table during the most crucial time of the year wasn't enough, Big E suffered a broken neck on the 11 March SmackDown.

It hurts to see someone so passionate about his craft go from WWE Champion to watching Wrestle-f*cking-Mania in a neck brace on his couch. Come Sunday night, E will look on at Roman and Brock, then wonder what might've been. There's always next year, right? Yep, but that doesn't soften the blow.

Truthfully, WWE had started to wobble on E long before Ridge Holland spiked him with a belly-to-belly on the floor. He'd returned to the tag division alongside Kofi Kingston, which was a backwards step from his starring role on Raw as head boy.

Heartbreaking.
