7 Ups & 9 Downs From AEW Dark (Oct 20)

Downs...

9. Shawn Spears vs. Christopher Daniels

Finally, at 50 years old, Christopher Daniels has taken a step back. He's working at a level or two below what he was capable of in SoCal Uncensored's early six-man tags in AEW, having spent the bulk of his career working a high-impact style, and while his slowdown is perfectly understandable, it means his matches aren't always going to be fun to watch.

A relatively flavourless encounter with Shawn Spears opened Dark. The layout was functional enough but there was little to the work, with the bout serving as an extension of Spears' feud with Scorpio Sky. 'The Chairman' was upstaged by Sky on Late Night Dynamite, saving Matt Sydal from a beatdown, and they look set to collide.

Sky repeated this after Spears had bested Daniels, saving his stablemate from a shot with the loaded glove. A poor stagehand ate the slug instead.
